This is Honda’s redesigned Stream that just came out in Japan. Based on a stretched version of the Civic’s platform, the new mid-sized MPV tries to borrow some of its parent’s (Euro Civic of course) design magic. Judging by the photos, the Stream still looks like a big bar of soap if you ask me… It is still unknown if the 2007 Stream will be available in the European and North American markets.

Under the Hood

The 1.8-liter VVT-i (variable valve timing with intelligence) four-cylinder engine in the Celica GT develops 140 horsepower. A 180-hp, 1.8-liter DOHC four-cylinder with a different design and VVTL-i technology goes into the sportier GT-S edition. The GT has a standard five-speed-manual gearbox, but the GT-S stick has six speeds. A four-speed-automatic transmission is optional for both, but the one in the GT-S offers manual gear selection using four buttons on the steering wheel. Although the GT engine will run on regular fuel, the GT-S commands premium at the pump.

After undergoing a total redesign for 2000, nothing is new for Toyota’s long-lived sport coupe, now in its seventh generation. The Celica name dates back to 1971, making it almost as old as the Corolla sedan. Convertibles have been offered in the past, but 2001 Celica is a front-drive hatchback coupe that comes in GT and GT-S trim levels, with two different 1.8-liter four-cylinder engines.

The Nissan Presage is a large MPV produced by Japanese automaker Nissan since 1998. The Presage is only officially sold by Nissan in Hong Kong, Singapore, Brunei and Japan.

The first generation Presage was launched by Nissan in June 1998 as a competitor to the Honda Odyssey. It was available with either seven or nine seats. The biggest share of components was taken from the Nissan R’nessa, although it also has elements in common with the Nissan Bassara.

Engines include a 3.0-litre V6 VQ and a 2.4-litre four-cylinder KA gasoline engine, and a 2.5-litre four-cylinder YD turbodiesel engine. The YD turbodiesel & 2.4-litre KA were discontinued in August 2001 and replaced by a 2.5-litre four-cylinder QR gasoline engine.

All rear seats can be folded, although only those in the second row can be removed. After the restyling in 2001, the Presage got a new trim level called Highway Star.
